This game is just awesome, and it is defo more scary then the first I find that I have to keep my guard up nearly all the time haha.

And I'm loving the space station setting as it gives it that closer to home feeling if you know what I mean.

Extraction is a great game, not as scary as DeadSpace but one the less is just as intense in places...it is a great game and addition to the lore of DeadSpace in it's own right, props to Eurocom.

Dead Space 2 Empty Dead Sapce (my Mini Review) of what I have played so far

Post by jufonuk Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:47 pm

After playing about an hour last night, my thoughts so far:

it seems more action orientated, digging the graphical upgrades (love the lighting) Credits seem more plentiful..love some of the new Enemies, does seem more A-B action a lot of running (first level the vunerability of Isaac works well), Love the Zero G Sections and the new Zero-G controls..also love the streamlined controls

My only negatives so far is the location. I Prefer the Ishimura as a location, the sprawl seems too populated I prefered having Isaac on his own, trying to find out what was happening, having to help his crew out searching for survivors.(though having the crying/screaming of inhabitants can be creepy/disturbing)

I guess having played Dead Space, you kinda feel like John McClane in Die Hard 2 after have the same shit at the Nakatomi Plaza..you are thrust back into the action, you know what to expect and when to expect it, (that said I have had a few jumps here and there) it can lessen the tension but having said this Isaac feels more badass this time he feels faster and stronger. Time will tell if I prefer the Sprawl to the Ishimura, I know that the sprawl can/will give varied locations to the game but I just loved the claustraphobia of the old location.

Also why give a voice to Isaac?
I loved the fact in the old game you felt more bonded to him as you had to learn via video/audio/text logs and commands from your crew.. having no narration allowed you to come to your own conclusion to the story, to experience things for yourself..

so far loving what I have played,I still think DS1 is the better game for the tension (maybe due to it being so new and fresh in regards to the franchise) this is quickly becoming my fave survival Horror series to date.(this includes Extration for the Wii as well)

so far 9/10 (this could rise or fall depending on how it goes, (I am only on chapter 4 ATM)

EDIT: just had a thought you could compare DS to Alien and DS2 to Aliens (more action orientated)

Its not bad but its not good, mainly just mini hacking games and cartoon cut scenes, which tells the story up until 2 kicks in.

Plus if you complete the game it grants you access to certain rooms in Dead Space 2 and some extra items like the hacker suit.

I'll give Extraction ago after I complete 2 as I never got around to playing it on the Wii, I bought it just before I gave my Wii to my mum Sad so never got a chance to play it.

After playing a good few hours tonight, the sprawl is an awesome location, (Still love the ishimura though) each chapter adds new twists...the game has got that "just a bit more" aspect to it, you keep pushing on to see what the game bring, ok some enemies are fucking disgusting, but you learn to think what they are no what they were...I am off to kip
